Who owns what on Montreal Daily, what you’re free to do with our content, and how to reach us about permissions or infringement.
01What we own
Unless otherwise credited, all articles, photography, graphics, and the visual design of montreal-daily.com are the property of Montreal Daily or used under licence from their creators. This includes our masthead, section branding, and the halftone photo treatment used throughout the site.
02What you can do
- Share a link to any Montreal Daily story on social media, by email, or on your own site
- Quote a short excerpt (a sentence or two) with clear attribution and a link back to the original article
- Embed our published social posts using the platform’s own embed tools
03What you can’t do
- Republish a Montreal Daily article in full, or substantially in full, on another site or publication
- Use our photography, graphics, or design elements outside montreal-daily.com without permission
- Scrape, mirror, or systematically reproduce our content or classifieds listings
- Remove or alter bylines, photo credits, or copyright notices
- Present our content as your own, or imply an affiliation or endorsement that doesn’t exist
04Photography & image credits
Photos accompanying our articles are credited to their photographer or source where required by the licence we hold. Any image illustration generated or altered by AI is labelled as such in the caption. If you’re a photographer and believe your work has been used without permission, see Reporting infringement below.
05Content you post
If you post a classifieds listing, directory profile, or message, you keep ownership of that content. Posting it grants Montreal Daily a licence to display and distribute it as part of operating the site. The full terms of that licence, and the rules for what you’re allowed to post, are in our Terms of Use and Community Guidelines.
06Trademarks
“Montreal Daily” and our masthead logo are trademarks of Montreal Daily. They may not be used to imply endorsement or affiliation without our written permission.
07Requesting permission to republish
For syndication, republishing, or use of our photography or graphics outside the site, email legal@montreal-daily.com with the specific content and intended use. We review requests individually and respond within 5 business days.
08Reporting infringement
If you believe content on our site infringes your copyright, email legal@montreal-daily.com identifying the material in question, its location on our site, and your rights in it. We review every claim and remove infringing content promptly where the claim is valid.
