01Our approach

Montreal Daily’s classifieds and directory exist so neighbours can find each other, free of charge. These guidelines exist to keep that useful for everyone, and are part of our Terms of Use.

02Listing duration & reconfirmation

Listings stay live for 45 days from the post date. Around day 40 we’ll email you a reminder. To keep your listing active past 45 days, you need to reconfirm it, a one-click action from that email or your account dashboard, confirming the item, job, or service is still available. If you don’t reconfirm, the listing expires automatically. Expired listings are removed from public view immediately and deleted from our systems 30 days later if not renewed.

Reconfirming resets the 45-day period. There’s no limit on how many times you can reconfirm an active listing, as long as it’s still genuinely available.

03What you can post

Housing, jobs, services, and marketplace items, provided the listing is accurate, currently available, and legal to offer in Quebec and Canada. One listing per item or opportunity; duplicate postings of the same thing are treated as spam.

04Prohibited listings

  • Fraudulent, misleading, or scam listings
  • Counterfeit or stolen goods
  • Housing or job listings that discriminate on grounds prohibited under Quebec or Canadian human rights law
  • Anything illegal to sell, offer, or advertise under Canadian or Quebec law
  • Adult services or sexually explicit content
  • Listings for items or services you don’t actually have or intend to provide

05Messaging conduct

Keep messages to the listing at hand. Harassment, unsolicited commercial messages, and requests to move payment off-platform before meeting in person are not allowed.

06Prohibited platform conduct

  • Scraping or automated data collection from listings
  • Impersonating another person or business
  • Attempting to circumvent site security or access controls
  • Relisting the same item or role repeatedly to avoid the 45-day expiry instead of reconfirming it

07Reporting a listing or user

Every listing has a “Report” link. Tell us what’s wrong, and our moderation team reviews it, typically within 24 hours.

08Enforcement

Violating these guidelines can result in removal of the listing, a warning, or suspension or termination of your account, depending on severity and history. Fraudulent listings or repeated violations result in immediate account termination.
